The stable door makes me particularly happy when I arrive home...it’s solid and feels very secure too.

Mr & Mrs Baxter

Essex / Hertfordshire border – Stable and Front Door – Cottage

In a quiet village on the Essex and Hertforshire border, Mr & Mrs Baxter’s beautifully kept 1940’s post war cottage was given the doors her and her partner had always desired, and that the property deserved.

“We’d always wanted a stable door to open up the kitchen” they explain and although offset to one side of the cottage and not the natural front door, it has become the main entrance, “we use it as a front door most of the time, look out over the garden and welcome visitors through it too.”

The other door is a “Staverton” chosen to fit in with the cottage style and both this and the stable door are in a matching Staverton style reflecting the vertical panels, the same black ironmongery and identical, Bevel glazing panels with red corners from our decorative leaded glass range; the couple describe how they opted to replace both doors so that they looked right and complemented one another.

Both doors were specified in a dual colour finish, with French Grey on the outside and White on the inside, an option that allows flexibility to match door faces to the internal décor and external finish.

“The stable door makes me particularly happy when I arrive home” Mrs Baxter tells us, “it’s solid and feels very secure too.”

The key to getting exactly what they wanted was research and planning, having looked at alternative manufacturers, nothing quite measured up until a visit to their local Timber Windows showroom gave them the products they were seeking, “we’re very pleased with the quality, and although they were a bit more expensive than other options, it was worth the extra outlay.”
