Entrance Door, Casement Windows and French Doors
A new build character home
Situated in a peaceful, rural village on the outskirts of Basingstoke, Ms Kaye had the opportunity to build a new home for herself on the site of the tennis court belonging to her existing period thatched cottage.
She was keen to construct a contemporary style home with lots of light but also a home of character. The design and quality of the windows was a very important aspect of the overall build.
The finished house is a stunning oak framed building which has been clad in cedar. It is largely open plan and the beautiful timber windows and French doors perfectly complement the interior style. Having taken inspiration from a gardening magazine, Ms Kaye comments:
“I love the natural look of the house. It is not just a typical new build. I didn’t want to live in an L-shaped box!”
the timber windows range and service adds the desired edge
Ms Kaye was recommended to a local builder’s merchant for windows but she was uninspired by the range on offer. She was then recommended Timber Windows by a friend who had been impressed with the service and products.
Having visited her local showroom, she explains
“Everyone in the showroom was really helpful. I did not know exactly what I wanted and really appreciated their patience in showing me different options and helping me to choose”.
Ms Kaye opted for large French doors with sidelights that maximise light and allow an uninterrupted view of her garden, grazing horse and hens. She also opted for a selection of flush casement windows around the house, a stable door and a Kingston style front door. The end result are windows and doors that perfectly match her vision for the exterior of the property.
“I love the slim glazing bars on the windows. They are elegant, allow tons of light into the rooms, and make the most of the views of the garden and countryside beyond”.
“From the beginning of the project through to aftercare, the service I have received has been very impressive”.
