Lipped Casement Windows and Entrance Door
This sensitively designed housing area was built just five years ago in an Oxfordshire village; unfortunately, not everything was as it should have been, with the contractor cutting a few corners when it came to the windows and doors, as owner Mrs Passmore explains,
“they used poor quality, wooden windows that hadn’t been treated and had no undercoat, instead they glossed straight onto the bare surface on site, and inevitably they all failed. After making a claim against them, we were awarded compensation to get suitable replacements.”
Selecting their new windows and doors, Mr & Mrs Passmore chose a ‘French Grey’ finish throughout. The new front door is our Chalfont design and has Polished Brass ironmongery providing the finishing touches, while the Lipped Casement windows have graceful 18mm astragal glazing bars.
Softer Approach
“Our choices have a much softer colour and more pleasant design now”.
Importantly, the Timber Windows range has a factory applied, microporous coating system; a thorough and advanced four-layer treatment consisting of a wood preservative, a primer and two top coats to achieve the perfect finish. Microporous coatings provide the ultimate protection, allowing the wood to breathe, permitting the passing through of moisture vapour and thus maintaining an equilibrium of moisture content through the seasons, preventing decay, while prolonging the life of the timber.
Quieter and warmer
The family have noticed other benefits too,
“the house is noticeably quieter, as we no longer hear any noise from outside.”
“Temperature retention in the house has also been much better, in colder weather the house is warmer and we’ve had the heating on less.”
