“We were extremely surprised how quickly all the windows and doors were fitted in place with very little mess and disruption; testament to Timber Windows’ surveyor, the measurements he made meant that our new windows and doors fitted perfectly”

Mrs Moulton says of the experience with Timber Windows for her Essex home,

“ironically I spoke to a friend who was having windows installed by another company at the same time and I couldn’t help feeling a little smug when she told me of the chaos in her house and all the ‘making good’ that was going to be required afterwards”.

Victorian Renovation with a hint of Modern

Carrying out a full renovation of their Victorian, 1880s home, Mr & Mrs Moulton wanted to give the house a more modern appearance without detracting from the character,

“we felt that by replacing the old French doors with bi-folds, we could achieve that”

Mrs Moulton explains.

In addition, the homeowners, wanted to make it a more comfortable house to live in,

“our house was very draughty, often the wind would whistle through our old doors and windows, and in the winter, we would fight a losing battle to keep it warm.”

Having looked around at window and door suppliers for over a year, Mr & Mrs Moulton had struggled to find the right combination of quality, workmanship and style that they were looking for, along with the offer of a high specification and being sympathetic to the age of the property,

“I happened to see the Timber Windows advert in the Waitrose magazine that I picked up in store one day and realised the showroom was nearby. Once in the showroom, we realised the product met all of our criteria and the search was over!”

The house has received a selection of new items, including an arch topped Norham door in ‘Black’ with a ‘White’ frame as well as two sets of Bi-Fold doors, also in ‘Black’. Elsewhere, ‘White’ cottage casements with lead detailing, have also been fitted.

Dramatic Difference

“Over the years we have undertaken many renovation projects, on various homes we have owned, but rarely have we been able to say that a project completely surpassed our expectations. From day one when the first Bi-Folds were installed, we realised what a dramatic difference they were going to make to our home.”

“The craftsmanship was superb and the installation was excellent. The fitters were obviously very experienced, methodical and very precise. Nothing, not even our old ‘wonky’ walls, phased them!”

Our Warmest Winter

“The proof of the pudding has been that since having them installed, the past two winters, 2017-2018 being a particularly cold winter, our house has been the warmest it has ever been. So, not only do we have lovely looking windows and doors, we also have a draught-free house too.”
