Having purchased the property at the beginning of 2016, Mr & Mrs Mitchel wanted to undertake a transformation project to bring the house into the modern age.

“The previous owners lived here for 35 years and almost everything needed gutting! Even the kitchen was the original. We saw the potential that the property had and were very attracted to the garden as well”

comments Mr Mitchel.

Architects were brought on board to help with the Mitchel’s project and recommended suppliers for windows and doors. However, whilst driving, Mr Mitchel passed his local Timber Windows showroom and decided to stop by and visit.

“I’ve always loved buying from local businesses because you can just pop in if you have any problems. I really liked the products that were on display in the showroom”.

Like-for-like replacement windows to suit architecture

At the time of purchasing, the property had Crittall windows with secondary glazing and leaded detailing. With a desire for closely matched replacements, flush casement windows have been installed throughout with 9mm leaded light detailing, perfectly suited to the home’s architecture and styling.

The windows have all been given a dual colour finish, with ‘French Grey’ specified externally and ‘White’ internally featuring Polished Chrome Peardrop ironmongery.

Alongside the new windows, a Staverton style entrance door and Thorncliffe stable door have also been installed with the same dual colour finish, featuring Black Cottage ironmongery and Queen Anne leaded glass on the entrance door.

Benefits of purchasing from Timber Windows crucial in decision process

“We had considered a non-timber alternative option but with the low maintenance required with Timber Windows, the guarantees in place and the vast range of colour options, we feel we definitely made the right choice!”

Mr Mitchel comments.

With the new windows and doors installed, the benefits could be seen almost immediately. Mr Mitchel explains

“our house and all the neighbouring properties are at the bottom of a valley and it used to be so draughty and cold. Since having the new windows, the house has been so warm and comfortable!”.

“More light is being let into the house now and we really are absolutely delighted. Paul at the showroom took care of everything and made the entire process very easy”.

Recommending Timber Windows to friends and family

With the property now complete, Mr Mitchel has been recommending Timber Windows to friends and family alike and his daughter, currently living in London has now also specified Timber Windows for new sash windows at her home through her local showroom.

“The neighbours have been asking where we got our windows from so I’ve been sending them onto Paul”

Mr Mitchel concludes.
