New timber windows in the West Midlands

As our latest post in this series, today we will be taking a deeper look into our four showrooms situated in the West Midlands region of England. This large, populous area covers the counties of Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands (Ceremonial County) and Worcestershire. While a landlocked region, given its western border with Wales, the region is home to the longest river in the UK, the Severn, which in part flows through Shrewsbury and Worcester.

As before, it is worth noting that this post is correct at the time of writing, and so when you read this, whenever that may be, it may be that we have opened an additional showroom(s) in one or more of these areas. So please do visit our showrooms page, where we list every location, and you can find the most convenient for yourself.

Herefordshire – Hereford

Our first stop in today’s post is in the Herefordshire cathedral city, and county town, of Hereford. Sitting on the banks of the River Wye, it is the only city in the county, and understandably, its most populous area. The famous cathedral is home to the ‘Mappa Mundi’, the largest and oldest, intact mediaeval map of the world, believed to have been created in the 1300s. It is also home to the largest surviving chained library in the world, containing roughly 1500 books. Scholars worldwide travel to the cathedral to study these historic books and manuscripts in their original chained form, where this style of library has mostly been lost to time.

The city is also famous worldwide for its Cattle breeding, historic cider-making industry and proximity to the stunning Wye Valley AONB. In addition, it boasts iconic, historic architecture such as the ‘Black and White House’, a 400 year old building that appears today exactly how it was when it was first constructed.

In the Widemarsh district of the city, you can find our Hereford showroom on the Hereford Trade Park, off Holmer Road. Our showroom is opposite local family business, Phillips Carpets and next door to TM Factors Autoparts. Ample free parking is also available directly outside the showroom. For their full details, you can find these here.

Shropshire – Shrewsbury

Moving north into the beautiful county of Shropshire, our second showroom in the region can be found the in market, and county town of Shrewsbury. Dating back as far as the 8th century, the town boasts over 660 Listed Buildings, several timber framed buildings, and a historic, mediaeval street plan, giving visitors a real insight into the country’s past and heritage.

The town was also home to world famous English scientist and Biologist, Charles Darwin, whose theory of Evolution and natural selection led to Darwin being described as one of the most influential figures in human history.

Visitors to the town can enjoy its vibrant shopping and market scene, with the town famous for its focus on independent businesses. Situated on Roushill Bank in the centre of town, you can find our beautiful, boutique Shrewsbury showroom. It is located just a couple of doors down from the wonderful ‘Brambles’ sandwich shop, an ideal stop before browsing our beautiful range on display. You can find the showroom’s full details here.

Warwickshire – Leamington Spa

Turning Southeast into Warwickshire, our third showroom in the West Midlands region sits within the idyllic town of Royal Leamington Spa. The town is named for the River Leam, which flows through its centre and is home to several historic spa baths, dating to the 1700s, including the Royal Pump Rooms.

The town is famous for its beautiful examples of the Regency era of architecture, and is home to numerous large public parks. The town’s history and character played a crucial part in Leamington Spa being voted as the best place to live in the Midlands, by The Times in 2023. Today it boasts a vibrant culture of independent businesses, restaurants and bars. Annually in September, it hosts a Food & Drink Festival at the Royal Pump Gardens, celebrating the town’s booming culture, making it a key driver of tourism to the area at this time of year.

Our beautiful showroom in Leamington Spa can be found in the town centre, on Park Street. An extensive selection of our windows and doors are on display, perfect for those looking for new windows and doors in and around Warwickshire. You can find their full details here.

Birmingham – Harborne

The final showroom we will be covering today in the West Midlands is situated within what is commonly referred to as England’s second city, Birmingham. With a total population (including its wider metropolitan areas) of over 4 million people, it is one of the country’s most populous areas, and the city was a key part of the Industrial Revolution. Due to its size, and proximity to neighbouring cities and towns, Wolverhampton, Dudley and Sutton Coldfield, together they form what is known as the West Midlands Conurbation.

The city has grown exponentially over the years and centuries. One of our wonderful ironmongery partners, Samuel Heath, who we have been working with for many years, were founded in 1820, and have had the same business premises since its founding. At the time, it was on the outskirts of the city, and such has been Birmingham’s growth since, that it now sits almost in the city centre itself.

Among numerous factors, Birmingham is famous as having Europe’s highest concentration of jewellers, with the city producing roughly 40% of the UK’s jewellery. For music fans, the city was home to numerous world-famous musicians and bands such as Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Duran Duran and UB40 (to name a few). In the confectionary world, Birmingham (or specifically its Bourneville district) is home to Cadbury’s, and Cadbury World, where the chocolate is enjoyed by billions worldwide and attraction draws millions of visitors every year, crucial to both the local, and national economy.

In the Harborne district of the city, you can find our showroom on Northfield Road, in a large unit with plenty of free parking outside. A generous selection of our timber windows and doors on display here, with a highly experienced team, with many years’ experience working with our range are on hand to help. This team also run our showroom in Leamington Spa, and so together cover a large portion of the West Midlands and Warwickshire areas. If you are local to Birmingham or its surrounding areas and are interested in new windows and doors, you can find their details here.
