London – Chiswick

We invite you to visit our beautiful showroom in the centre of the desirable West London District of Chiswick. Historically, Chiswick was known as Old Chiswick within the county of Middlesex, before becoming part of the Borough of Brentford and Chiswick in 1932, and then becoming part of Greater London in 1965, when it merged with Hounslow. Over the years, Chiswick has been home to many famous names, including, Vincent Van Gogh (for a time), Pete Townshend and Phil Collins to name a few.

Historically, Old Chiswick was a village, dating as far back to the 11th century, known for its farming, fishing and ferrying services along the River Thames throughout the Roman and Middle Ages. In the 1800s it became the home of Thornycroft Shipyard, which built the country’s first naval destroyer, the HMS Daring. The shipyard later moved to Southampton in the early 1900s, due to the changing nature of war, and the need for larger warships, which could no longer fit under the bridges along the Thames. Chiswick grew exponentially throughout the 19th century, becoming a much more suburban area, and walking through the district today, you can find an array of beautiful historic buildings of Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian architecture.

Chiswick is, and has since its inception, been the finish line for the annual boat race between Oxford and Cambridge, with the finish line just before the famous Chiswick bridge. The world-famous race passes through numerous famous landmarks, such as Craven Cottage, Chiswick Eyot, Chiswick Pier and Fuller’s Brewery to name a few.

Our showroom, trading as Chiswick Sash Windows & Doors is easy to find, situated centrally on Chiswick High Road, where the majority of Chiswick’s shops and restaurants can be found along this 1.6 mile long street. The showroom is at number 60, next door to the wonderful local lighting and furniture shop, Decorexi. While the road has become a hub for shopping, eating and drinking in more recent times, many of the buildings along it are Listed, dating back over 100 years.

Upon entering the showroom, you will find a stunning example of our Stamford style front door with a toplight. Inspired by local architecture, this door features, bespoke, characterful moulding details, synonymous with Chiswick townhouses, and homes in the neighbouring boroughs of Acton, Shepherd’s Bush and Hammersmith. The door is dual coloured, with a colour complementary to Farrow & Ball ‘Breakfast Room Green’ externally and ‘White’ internally. Wonderful, bespoke stained glass adorns the door, creating a beautiful entrance that would boost the kerb appeal and beauty of any London home.

As you walk through our showroom, you will find multiple examples of our range of engineered timber windows and doors, including our traditional slim sash window, with 18mm astragal glazing bars in a ‘Tombstone’ formation, a design that is synonymous with London townhouses.

Alternative door and window styles available to view can complement a multitude of styles and periods including 1930’s properties, Georgian townhouses, Victorian homes, and everything between. Many options for customisation are also possible including glazing designs, stained glass, and hardware and ironmongery choices, as well as a vast selection of paint colours including those that complement well-known brands such as Farrow & Ball, Fired Earth and Little Greene.

Other products throughout the showroom display our range of entrance doors, casement windows and sash windows, while we also offer sliding patio doors, traditional French doors and bi-fold doors as part of our suite of products.

All products on offer are made to order, to your requirements, and are supplied as standard with energy efficient, performance double glazing. Our dedicated range for listed buildings also includes conservation area friendly single glazing, where local rules require.
