1920s Delight

In Southend, along a street of identical, 1920s properties, homeowners Mr & Mrs Atherton, were fed up with their single-glazed, poorly performing windows and doors.

“On windy days, the windows would rattle and during the Winter months, the home was very inefficient and cold”

Mrs Atherton comments.

All homes along the street feature beautiful, original stained glass, and so with a desire to ensure that any new windows and doors would be in keeping with this and maintaining the character of the property, the Athertons discovered Timber Windows.

“We visited two Timber Windows showrooms and met both Yvonne and Tim, who were fantastic and helped us greatly in selecting our new windows and doors”.

Flush casement windows finished in 'Off-White' and a Polstead style front door finished in 'Harewood Grey'.

Retaining original stained glass

Keen to retain the original stained glass where possible, our flush casement windows with fanlights finished in ‘Off-White’, and a new 1920s style, Polstead front door in ‘Harewood Grey’ were specified. The original stained glass was encapsulated within these new, double-glazed units, and where the original stained glass could not be retained, Timber Windows replicated the design perfectly.

“Lots of people knock on the door now to ask where we got it from!”

Describing her experience of purchasing the new products, Mrs Atherton comments

“There was simply no comparison in terms of quality versus other suppliers we considered”.

“We would not hesitate to recommend Timber Windows to anyone; they were professional, efficient, and the products are of great quality”

“We were adamant in ensuring the new windows and doors were in keeping with the rest of the street, and we absolutely love the new windows!”
