Suffolk
Slim Sash Windows, Cottage Casement Windows and Entrance Door
Stunning new sash and casement windows as well as a new entrance door have greatly improved the façade of this handsome 1830s Georgian property in the Suffolk countryside.
The homeowner, Mr Heneghan comments
“When we purchased the house, we planned to carry out extensive refurbishment work, including adding an extension and conservatory at the rear. We had to move out while all this work was going on”.
Part of Mr Heneghan’s plan was to replace the original windows and doors.
“The original sash windows had glass that was extremely thin, and they rattled like mad, especially when Chinooks from the nearby air base flew overhead! They were rubbish, cold and had to go.”
After meeting with a member of the team from Timber Windows of Woodbridge, new slim sash windows and a set of cottage casements were specified for the home.
“We planned for the work to be undertaken in two stages. The windows were to be first and then we returned to replace the front door in the second stage”.
Slim sash windows finished in a colour complementary to Farrow & Ball ‘Slipper Satin’ with decorative sash horns and 18mm astragal glazing bars.
Replicated the original design
The new front door is a Chadlington design in a ‘Harewood Grey’ finish and the toplight is a close replica to the original; a feature that Mr Heneghan was very keen to retain.
“The new windows and doors have made such a difference to our home. The house no longer rattles, it’s much quieter and not to mention, much warmer as well”
explains Mr Heneghan.

Solid Construction, Expert Design
The new entrance door has impressed Mr Heneghan so much that he comments
“the back door is a similar style and we are now looking to get this replaced by Timber Windows as well.”
When asked if he was happy with the results, he responded,
“who wouldn’t be! They are well designed and constructed, and look as good as the originals.”
