Cottage Casement Windows and Entrance Door
Traditional update for beautiful countryside property
Now sporting, beautifully designed cottage flush casement windows, this stunning cottage in a Wiltshire village has been given a traditional, new lease of life.
With the original part of the house dating to the 1690s, it was imperative that it was treated with respect. In the opinion of the homeowners, Mr & Mrs Ramage, the previous window design, with just a single horizontal bar, made the house look too ‘gappy’.
A Classic Choice
Adding a simple formation of vertical and intersecting astragal bars has achieved the look befitting of their home.
Additionally, a single door now replaces a set of rather slim French doors, making for a much more usable entrance.
Throughout the property, all the items were chosen in the shade of ‘Straw’, a neutral yet distinct and calming colour.
Respecting local heritage
The addition of a cottage style glazing bar formation has transformed the overall appearance of the structure.
“The colour is gorgeous”
“Although not a formal conservation area, the village is generally treated as such, and everyone takes a great deal of care to respect this.”
